Villages

The beautiful island of Gozo has 13 villages and its capital city. Each of the villages offers its own characteristics, so it would be useful to get to know about the villages before choosing where to stay, so you can choose whether you want to stay in a quite village or to be close to the heart of the activities.
Although Gozo is a small island, and no two villages are very far from each other (even if they are on opposite sides of the island), the villages do not touch with one another. Each village is surrounded by its own green belt, a characteristic which is not very common in other places such as in Malta.
It is good to know that almost all villages have the basic amenities such as supermarkets and pharmacies. If you are planning to rent a car or a scooter, free street parking is always available in all villages and is safe without risks of getting a parking fine (as long as you follow the driving and parking rules). In addition, all villages have a pjazza (centre) in the centre of the village, where one finds the parish’s church dedicated to the village Saint and where you can join local people for a chat over a coffee or a beer.
