The vast area is dotted by olive trees one next to the other. Being one of the biggest green spots on the island, it attracts many birds. Some of which would be migrating birds which stay on Gozo for a few days during their transit between Europe and Africa. The produce of the trees is gathered yearly to make excellent olive oil. The sub tropical climate is ideal for such a harvest as the olives mature under the Mediterranean sun.
