Diving Wrecks

Diving Wrecks are present on the south coast of Gozo. Near x-Xatt l-Ahmar bay you will find three sunken ships. A forth one is present near Comino Crystal Lagoon, directly under the watchful guard of Comino Tower. All ships used to operate around the Maltese Archipelago before they were given a second life.

MV CominoLand and MV Karwela have been cleaned before sunken. Also, safety routes and escape holes are present. This makes these two vessels easy to penetrate and explore. Some experience and/or guidance is advisable as the wrecks are at a depth of 35-40 meters below the surface.

Pro Tip:

While exploring the lower levels, use proper fining technique  and accurate buoyancy control so as not to disturb the silk at the bottom.

MV Xlendi was sunken in 1999. Unfortunately, the descent did not go as planned and the wreck lays upside down. This vessel does not have safety holes and is being crushed under its own weight. It is highly advisable not to enter inside the wreck.

The solo wreck present next to Comino island is the P31. Formerly used by the Armed Forces of Malta, the boat has been made safe for people to enjoy and for marine life before being sunken.

The wreck is about 20 meters deep in crystal clear water, which makes it a popular diving site for all diving enthusiast. Obviously, one needs to hire a boat to arrive over the wreck.
