Bragjoli

The Bragjoli is a popular dish on the island of Gozo. This plate does not require a lot of preparation effort and cooks quite well in a small amount of time. 

When I was a teenager, helping my mother rolling the meat was something I liked doing. Doing the bragjoli is quite simple. You would need a big thin piece of beef to roll. The local way for the filling is to use minced meat with fine shredded onion, carrots, salt and herbs.

Cooking the bragjoli is quite straight forward. Place in a pot with some local white wine and broth. The meat should be ready in about 15 minutes. In the meantime you can prepare some tomato sauce to serve over the bragjoli whilst sipping a glass of local wine. Enjoy !!
