Blue Lagoon

the blue lagoon in gozo during the summer season

The Blue lagoon is one of the most famous places on the Maltese archipelago. Found on the island of Comino, the lagoon can be seen from the Gozo channel while crossing over to Gozo.

The crystal clear water is very inviting. Situated between two inlets with Cominotto on one side, the lagoon enjoys a slow steady current which keep the water in the lagoon clean. A small sandy beach is found, where children can play and splash in the water. An unlimited number of umbrellas and deckchairs are available for the adults to take a break.

The lagoon is very shallow. At times, you can cross over to Cominotto, keeping your feet standing on the white sandy bottom. Further to the side, you’ll find a rocky shore. I snorkelled several times here. As no fishermen come in the area, you will be able to see some fish, octopus, and maybe squid.

A number of kiosks serve food, drinks, alcohol, and more. Access is possible by boat, which only takes 10 minutes to arrive from Gozo. I suggest not to delay, as the boats are rather small, and get full quite fast.
