Zebbug

Zebbug, located in the Northern part of the island, is one of Gozo’s three hills. The village’s name means olives, which indicates that in this area, they used to grow olive trees to be used to make olive oil.

The village’s parish church, which is found in the village’s pjazza, is dedicated to Santa Marija. Its works of art are very particular, as they are made from material which was found in Żebbuġ around 300 years ago.

One can enjoy lovely walks in this village, both in the country side as well in the village’s streets, where one can find street niches which the villagers are very proud of.

Marsalforn

Marsalforn, part of Iz-Zebbuġ, is a very touristic place offering a vast choice of restaurants, bars, self-catering apartments, hotels as well as guest houses. Local people also move to their summer residences during the hot months of the summer.

In Marsalforn, one can find promenades which are absolutely amazing for strolls, especially in the evenings, when families gather together in these areas.

It also has plenty of picturesque places and points where to swim, including a sandy beach which also has pebbles, Qbajjar bay and Xwejni bay. Around the beach side one can also find plenty of diving schools as well as a vast choice of places where to practice scuba diving or even snorkeling.

In summer, the main bay would be full of fishing boats and sailing boats. The fishing boats would be left anchored at bay to make going fishing easier whilst the sailing boats would be mostly for holiday makers.

In Marsalforn, one can also find a battery, located between Qbajjar and Xwejni Bay. On the opposite side of the hamlet, one can also find a church which is dedicated to St Paul.
