Gozo Cycling Route

Cycling is a family friendly activity which is a growing trend on the island of Gozo. More people are getting involved into cycling as a sport and to keep healthy.

Most individuals like to practice the sport for fun. It is also an environmental friendly means of transport, which has zero emissions and no negative impact on the nature around us. However, keep in mind that cycling may not be totally easy. The island of Gozo is hilly, and the roads are mostly sloping up and down. Beginners may find the extra effort intimidating. Also, it is good to know that during summer the air is very hot and humid. With ever rising temperatures due to climate change, traditional cycling during the summer days may not be wise. However, you can opt for an electric bike. It is important to carry water and keep hydrating.

The Route

Despite the small challenges presented by the local climate, Gozo offers an astonishing cycling route for those adventurous enough to try it. The official route on the island is 42 kilometers long. Most of the journey will be along the coast where you can enjoy great countryside and coastal views.

You will find yourself passing through most of the villages of Gozo. Hence, many people do try it. Also, plan some spare time to stop and enjoy the top attractions along the way. The official route can be divided into two segments, The North Segment, and The South Segment.
